KHUZDAR: Two picnickers, a man and his son, were swept away by high tides at Gadani beach, police and rescuers said on Sunday.

Kareem Shah, a resident of Karachi, and his 10-year-old son Obaid Shah had gone to a picnic at a beach near the ship-breaking yard. While swimming, the boy went into deep sea and drowned, prompting his father to jump into sea to rescue him.

However, his efforts failed as he and his son were overwhelmed by strong waves and lost their lives.

Edhi Foundation volunteers retrieved the bodies and transported them to RHC Sheikhabad. After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to the family.
