PESHAWAR, May 4: The NWFP Senior Minister and Provincial Amir of Jamaat-i-Islami, Mr Sirajul Haq, has opposed the proposed fencing of the Pakistan-Afghan border, saying the MMA government will use every resource to foil what he called a mischievous plan.

“The MMA government will not allow division of Muslims on the basis of state, creed and sect”, he said.

He was addressing public meetings the Kandaro and Mulano Banda villages situated near Pakistan-Afghan border in Lower Dir district on Thursday, said a handout.

Opposing the fencing plan, Mr Haq said it indicated failure of the foreign policy, and added that the federal government should plan construction of highways between the two countries to connect various border towns.

He said construction of roads would not only bring people of the two neighbouring countries closer, but would also boost trade and economic activities in the region.

He said that MMA after coming at the helm of affairs in the centre would review internal and external policies of the country to make it as per aspirations of the nation and Ummah.
