Karachi Port operations

KARACHI, May 4: Berthing activity at the Karachi port on Thursday was maintained on the higher side as the agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels well in time, according to KPT sources.

As a result, eight ships, Kota Waris, Hyundai Future, Corn Thiakos, Y.M. Star, Eric G. Gibson to unload and load containers, Datriot R. to offload and load general cargo, Johar and Piemonte, oil tankers were berthed after the departure of seven.

The ships, which departed included Iran Tabatabaei, Ocean Victory, APL Dalian, Satha Bhum, Angeliki-D, Lady Jasmine, and Naxos, while Y.M.Star, Arihant and Johar are due to sail out on Friday.

Cargo handled totalled 0.105m tons comprising 20,442 tons of export cargo including 5,336 tons of rice and 84,339 tons of import tonnage, which also included 7,190 tons of sugar.

The following ships are due on Friday: Sunrise Rosa, with lube oil and Kota Tampan, with containers.
