Over 280 doctors, health professionals awarded degrees at BUHSC convocation

KARACHI: The Bahria University Health Sciences’ Campus (BUHSC) held its 11th convocation on Saturday where over 280 students received their degrees in various disciplines.

The event brought together the graduates, their proud parents, mentors, and dignitaries from the Pakistan Navy, academia, and the healthcare community

BUHSC Director General retired Vice Admiral Ather Mukhtar set the tone for the day with a heartfelt welcome. He praised the graduates’ resilience and encouraged them to carry forward the values of compassion, collaboration, and innovation in a world hungry for healthcare heroes.

College of Physicians & Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP) President Prof Mohammad Shoaib Shafi, the chief guest of the event’s morning session, urged students to remain resilient and uphold integrity which, he said, were essential attributes of the noble profession.

Higher Education Commission Chairman Dr Mukhtar Ahmed, the chief guest of the afternoon session, expressed his confidence in students’ potential to become capable and visionary leaders of tomorrow.

A total of 285 graduates received their degrees across various disciplines, including MPhil, MBBS, BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery), BS Nursing, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), and BS Medical Lab Technology (MLT).

The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by retired Major General Shehla M. Baqai, Dean Health Sciences and Principal of the Bahria University Medical College.

Certificates of merit and medals were awarded to outstanding students, recognising their academic excellence.

The gold medal recipients were: Zujajah Nadim (MBBS); Sana Hassan; (MPhil Anatomy) Mahail Khan (BDS); Faizza Rasheed (MPhil Biochemistry); Mohammad Saeed (MPhil Physiology); Ariba Nasreen (MPhil Pathology); Eiman Yousuf Kamyab (DPT); Aneeqa Ashraf (BS MLT); Essha Tul Rafia (BS Nursing).

The silver medal recipients: Ayesha Haq (MBBS); Rimsha Akmal (BDS); Huma Azmat (MPhil Anatomy) Aimen Gul (MPhil Biochemistry); Ammara Khan (DPT); Umm e Aiman (BS MLT); Syeda Anoosha Sarfaraz (BS Nursing).

The ceremony concluded with presentation of convocation souvenirs to the chief guests.
