LAHORE: Ajoka Theatre commemorated the seventh death anniversary of its founder and iconic theatre personality, Madeeha Gauhar, with an artistically rich tribute at Alhamra Hall 3. The event brought together her family, colleagues, artists and admirers to celebrate her lasting contributions to socially engaged theatre in Pakistan.

The evening opened with the emotional video song Jeevay Ajoka, followed by a stirring violin performance by Madeeha’s son Nirvaan Nadeem, violinist Muhammad Aslam, and Aslam’s 7-year-old grandson Hasan, who made his debut on stage.

In a heartfelt family segment, Madeeha’s younger son Sarang Nadeem, relatives Neha Ali Gauhar, Arzoo Gauhar, sister Faryal Gauhar, widower Shahid Nadeem, and Nirvaan Nadeem shared personal reflections, remembering her as a fearless artist, a loving mother and a tireless advocate for justice. They paid tribute to her legacy as a visionary human rights and theatre activist.

Veteran educationist Perin Boga praised Madeeha’s courage and pioneering work in theatre. Longtime Ajoka member and theatre artist Naseem Abass gave a powerful performance of the tribute song Uth Gaey, honouring those who dedicate their lives to meaningful change. This was followed by a lively musical and dance performance by Anika Malik and Kuke Kelvin.
