HYDERABAD, May 3: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil on Wednesday suspended six doctors and paramedics for dereliction of duty and issued written warnings to four others of action if they fail to fulfil requirements of their job.

The nazim took the step on the report of a committee appointed by him to monitor hospitals.

He is reported to have told the EDO health that provision of health care to the public was a priority of the district government.

The nazim warned indifference of doctors and paramedical staff to public health matters would not be condoned.

EDUCATION: The nazim has also suspended five teachers for being absent from schools and directed transfer of some teachers in the interest of education and students, a spokesman for district government said.

The four suspended teachers belong to city taluka Hyderabad and one to Hyderabad (rural).

The committee paid surprise visits to 26 schools of the city taluka, six of Qasimabad and 17 schools of Hyderabad (rural) taluka.
