KARACHI, May 2: Justice Khilji Arif Hussain of the High Court of Sindh and Administrative Judge for the Anti Terrorism Courts at Karachi on Tuesday remanded in police custody an accused in kidnapping for ransom and murder case till May 6.

Asad, uncle of two-year-old Laiba , was arrested on charge of kidnapping and torturing her to death in the jurisdiction of the North Nazimabad police.

The infant went missing on April 28 and kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 1.5 million. After negotiations , thefamily paid Rs300,000.

After the payment the location of the girl was disclosed. The family went to the place but found one-day-old body bearing torture marks. The suspect was interrogated and he confessed the crime and was arrested.

He was produced before the AJ on Tuesday and remanded in the custody of police for further investigation.

The court also asked the police to produce the suspect before the police surgeon for determining the age of the suspect whether he was juvenile or adult.—APP
