TIMERGARA, May 2: A court on Tuesday sent six activists of the banned Tehrik Nifaz-i-Shariah Muhammadi to prison. Mohammad Zarin of Chakdara, Maulvi Samiullah of Kithyari, Syed Ali Shah of Jango, Sardar Mohammad of Chakdara, Taj Nawab of Ramora and Attaullah of Sharingal — were arrested by police when they were addressing a press conference in Chakdara.

A police official said the tehrik was a banned organisation and its activists were not allowed to conduct political activities.

He stated that Maulvi Samiullah and Sardar Mohammad were wanted by police as they had violated the rules by holding a protest demonstration in Chakdara over the cartoon issue.
