NAROWAL: Three people were killed and five others injured when a speeding dumper rammed into a Chung Chi rickshaw on Sheikhupura-Lahore Road near Chaudhry Mill Stop in Sheikhupura.

According to Rescue 1122, the dumper struck the rickshaw from behind. The rescue team rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the emergency call.

The deceased were identified as 53-year-old Munir Ahmed, 51-year-old Niamat Ali and 71-year-old Muhammad Arif. The injured included Mohammad Nawaz (51), Anwar (42), Sajda Bibi (43), Burhan (22) and Naveed Ahmed (38). The injured people were provided first aid before they were shifted to hospital.

The dumper driver fled the scene following the accident. Police arrived shortly after, took custody of the three bodies, and registered an FIR against the unidentified driver.
