KARACHI: Four suspected robbers were shot at, wounded and arrested in an alleged encounter in the Defence area on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

They said that four armed men entered a house in Khayaban-i-Bahria for robbery. However, the owner immediately called Madadgar-15 and a police team rushed to the scene and encircled the residence.

The officials said that the robbers resorted to firing in their bid to escape. However, in an ensuing exchange of gunfire, the law enforcers managed to arrest suspects Adnan Kashif, Mubashir Nazir, Bakhtiar Ilyas, and Moazzam Bari in wounded condition.

The Gizri police claimed to have recovered four pistols, a car, two purses and as many watches from them.

They said all the suspects were habitual criminals and had a past criminal record.
