KARACHI: Bridge demanded

Published May 3, 2006

KARACHI, May 2: Residents of Keamari and Lyari, residing along Mauripur Road, have called for construction of a pedestrian bridge near People’s Ground to enable people to cross the road safely. They pointed out that crossing the road had now become a risk because of movement of heavy traffic, and a number of accidents have occurred in the past.

According to them, thousands of workers, officials, schoolchildren and womenfolk have to cross this road at Lyari Sports Complex daily reach their workplaces and they risk their lives by crossing the busy road.

They have urged the City Nazim to direct department concerned to take up the issue seriously and urgent measures be taken to start the construction of the bridge near People’s Ground.
