GUJRANWALA, May 1: A young man killed his uncle, aunt and two cousins over a matrimonial issue in Nizamabad, Wazirabad, on Monday. Wazirabad Saddar police said Basit was angry with one of his cousins who contracted marriage of her own free will and threatened the family with dire consequences.

He entered their house and attacked his cousins Shazia, Shabana and aunt Perveen with a knife and killed them on the spot. He injured his uncle Asghar when he came to their rescue. He was taken to the DHQ Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.

Basit escaped after committing the crime.

Police said one of his cousins Lubna along with her baby ran out of the house to save their lives.

Police have registered a case against the absconding accused and sent the bodies to hospital for autopsy.

Three killed: Three people, including a truck conductor, were killed while six others injured in an accident near Sadhoki on Monday.

It is learnt that a stone laden truck fell on a Lahore-bound commuter wagon when one of its tyres deflated as a result of which two passengers identified as Irfan and Ahmad Raza besides truck conductor died on the spot. The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Kamoki where their condition was stated to be stable.

The traffic on GT Road remained suspended for half an hour.

The truck driver managed to escape after the accident.
