PESHAWAR: A total of 4,966 Afghan refugees left for Afghanistan on Sunday night, an official report said.

It said of the total number, some 1,698 carried Afghan Citizen Card (ACC), while 3,268 were not registered in Pakistan.

The report said out of 1,698 ACC holders, 583 left voluntarily, while 1,115 were deported. It added out of 3,298 illegal immigrants, 1,973 left voluntarily, while 1,875 were deported.

Meanwhile, officials privy to the repatriation process said since the deportation process continued till late night, the number of Afghan refugees who left on Monday, would be shared later.

The report said that a total of 484,975 Afghan refugees had so far left for Afghanistan since September 2023.

It said that 473,841 left Pakistan voluntarily, while 11,134 were deported from different parts of the country through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
