LAKKI MARWAT: The police on Saturday claimed to have arrested a boy for performing inappropriate acts and dancing in women’s clothing.

A police official said that the incident had occurred during Eid days and they began tracing the boy when a video went viral on social media platforms.

He said that the video received widespread condemnation from various circles prompting police to swing into action.

“We traced the boy with the help of the video and arrested him during a raid,” he said.

He said the boy was shifted to the city police station where he apologised for inappropriate acts and dancing in women’s clothing in the presence of police officials.

The police also released the boy’s video wherein he can be heard as saying that he committed a wrong and was repentant.

In the video clip, the boy asked people, especially youth, not to wear their grandmothers’ clothing like he did.

The police said that the boy was later released after being issued a warning.

Local residents, especially social media activists, lauded the police action against the boy whose inappropriate actions had ‘disrespected’ the entire Marwat tribe.

“During the Eid days, young boys from the district visited parts of Punjab and Islamabad where they performed unbecoming acts and danced in women’s clothing,” a resident said.

Social media activists asked the police to identify other boys with the help of videos circulating on social media and bring them into clutches of law so as to safeguard the culture and strong traditions and values of Marwat tribe and Pakhtun nation.
