Israel “must be held accountable for its crimes, the likes of which have no parallel in modern history”, a spokesperson of the Civil Defence Agency told Al Jazeera, referring to the killing of 15 medics by Israel, Al Jazeera reports.

“We demand the formation of an international investigation committee into the occupation’s targeting of paramedics in Rafah,” the spokesperson said.

Rescue workers will continue “to perform their duties despite the occupation’s deliberate targeting of them”.

Also speaking to Al Jazeera, the Red Crescent in Gaza said the slain ambulance crew was working in a safe area, accusing Israel of targeting civil defence workers without verification.
