Over the past week alone, eight more aid workers have been killed in Gaza bringing to 399 the total number of humanitarian staff killed since Israel launched its war on the Palestinian territory in October 2023, the UN said, Al Jazeera reports.
In its latest situation report, the UN’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) also said 142,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced from their homes and makeshift shelters by the Israeli military in the week from March 18 to 23.
Aid efforts have also been crippled inside Gaza as Israel has blocked all humanitarian supplies from entering the Strip for more than three weeks. Israeli forces have also denied most requests for the coordination of movements by aid agencies with Israel’s military inside the Strip.
