“When you walk inside the emergency ward of al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, you see anything but a hospital. It’s offering only the most basic medical care, which isn’t enough in these difficult times, with mass casualties arriving,” Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Gaza City.
“Doctors are forced to decide which cases to prioritise.
“We spoke to one of the hospital’s staff who told us at least 12 people are undergoing surgery [after being injured in overnight attacks],” he said.
“They’re not sure if the surgeries are going to be successful due to an acute shortage of medical supplies. If people don’t die of their injuries, they can die from infection, dehydration or simply a lack of basic healthcare.”
