Vicky Cohen, whose son Nimrod is a captive in Gaza, has expressed frustration at the Israeli government’s priorities, saying it’s more focused on ousting Hamas and domestic political agendas than returning the abductees, Al Jazeera reports.
“The country has returned to fighting but it isn’t fighting for him — it’s fighting for other things,” Cohen told the Haaretz newspaper.
The government has given up on them [the captives],“ she was quoted as saying.
“As far as they’re concerned, returning to fighting is about taking revenge on Hamas and toppling Hamas. For a year, they haven’t managed to topple Hamas — how will they succeed now?”
