Rights group condemns Israel’s destruction of Gaza’s only cancer hospital

Rights group Al-Haq says Israel’s attack on the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza shows its “brazen impunity and dedication to destroying every single hospital” in the enclave, Al Jazeera reports.

Israeli forces had used the facility as a military base during their occupation of the so-called Netzarim Corridor, “violating its protected status”, and then blew it up in a controlled detonation on Thursday, the Ramallah-based group noted.

The attack further renders Gaza unliveable and shows that “Israel is engaging in a systematic pattern of genocide” by destroying its entire healthcare system, the group said.

Israel’s “genocidal intent” is also shown through “the denial of adequate medical provisions into and around the Gaza Strip, and the abduction, torture, and killing of medical personnel”, it added.
