PESHAWAR: Officials from Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Pakistan International Airlines on Friday visited Parachinar airport to assess its operational feasibility for commercial and humanitarian flights. A statement issued here said that the visit was made on the directives of the ministry of defence.

The government had formed an eight-member committee, comprising six PAA and two PIA officers led by additional director operations, Islamabad International Airport, Younas Lugman Qazi, and officials from Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar, for the visit.

The committee members conducted a comprehensive inspection of the airport’s infrastructure, including the terminal building, runway, fire garages, accommodation, generator room, and other operational facilities.

“Following the inspection, they met the deputy commissioner at his office to discuss matters related to the resumption of operations at Parachinar Airport,” the statement said, adding that the findings of the inspection would be compiled into a feasibility report, which would serve as the basis for future decisions regarding the reactivation of Parachinar Airport for both commercial and humanitarian purposes.
