DADU, April 27: The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM) would stage a rally in Hyderabad on May 15 to protest against dams proposed to be built on the river Indus, arrest of Dr Safdar Sarki and demolition of old villages, said Chairman JSQM Basheer Khan Qureshi.

Speaking to people gathered in Sann on Tuesday to observe the 11th death anniversary of Jeay Sindh Tahreek’s founder G M Syed Mr Qureshi, he appealed for making the rally a success.

He said President Pervez Musharraf had announced construction of all dams till 2016, despite strong opposition from Sindh, which he said, would never allow any government to construct dams.

About the Balochistan issue, he said the government should halt army operation in the province and give rights to people.

Mr Qureshi saw conspiracy behind the demolition of old villages in Karachi, Hyderabad and other districts of the province, and said the government should take notice of the worsening situation in the wake of demolition.

He lashed out at the issuance of NICs to Biharis, Burmese and Bengalis and demanded cancellation of cards issued to people who had settled in the province after 1954.
