MANSEHRA: Three people were killed and another sustained critical injuries when a car plunged into a ravine in Jigal area of Lower Kohistan on Saturday evening.

“We retrieved the bodies with the help of locals and shifted them to a health facility,” Sajid Ali Yusufzai, district emergency officer of Rescue 1122, told reporters.

The vehicle was on way to Mohmand district from Gilgit when the driver, while negotiating a sharp turn, lost control of the vehicle, and it skidded off the Karakoram Highway and plunged into a ravine.

Rescue 1122 personnel and locals rushed to the scene, retrieved the bodies from the gorge, and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Jigal.

Mr Yusufzai said Fazl Qadeer Khan, Jannat Said and Rehman Khan, all residents of Mohmand, were killed instantly, while Irfan Samad sustained critical injuries.

He added the bodies were dispatched to their respective hometowns after doctors completed medico-legal formalities.

The injured person was referred to a health facility in Swat, where his condition was reported to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, a man was killed at Zafar Road here over an old enmity.

A motorcyclist fired and left Gul Dad seriously injured and managed to flee.

The passersby shifted him to King Abdullah Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

The police said the slain had allegedly killed a man and his wife, and was on bail from a court.
