TAXILA: Three suspected robbers were arrested after a shoot-out with police on Hazara road in Hassanabdal early on Monday.

According to sources, a police team on patrol spotted four suspicious persons. When they were intercepted, the suspects opened fire at the police which was retaliated during which Sabiz Ali and Sher Dil were arrested. One of the suspected robbers later identified as Farman Khan was caught with a bullet injury while the fourth suspect identified as Dildar Khan managed to escape. During the shoot-out, no policeman was injured.

A police spokesman said the gang of robbers had snatched Rs2.50 million cash from a cattle dealer identified as Ziafat Khan in Havelian town of KP. The police here said the looted cash and weapons utilised in the crime were recovered from the robbers. The injured were shifted to tehsil headquarters hospital Hassanabdal.

Carjacker killed

A carjacker was killed during a botched vehicle snatching bid in the New City Phase-II in the limits of Hassanabdal police station on Monday.

According to a police spokesman, the suspect while posing as a passenger booked a Mehran from Rawalpindi to New City area. Upon reaching the destination, he took out a pistol and tried to snatch the vehicle. The car driver attempted to overpower him and accelerated the speed resultantly the suspect came under the wheels of the vehicle and died on the spot. The outlaw was not identified till filing of this report.

Two die in accidents

Two persons were killed while two others injured critically in separate accidents in various parts of Attock on Monday.

In the first incident, a young man was killed and two others injured after two motorcycles collided with each other on Rawalpindi-Kohat road in the limits of Jand police.

Police sources said that Ahsan Khan along with his friend was going from Jand to Dhoke Takkya when his motorcycle collided head-on with another motorcycle. Resultantly, he died on the spot while two others persons were injured.

Separately, a six-year-old girl was run over by a passenger van in village Jalo near Burhan in the limits of Hassanabdal police.

The girl was playing near the railway track when a Peshawar-bound passenger van coming from Rawalpindi ran over her.

Meanwhile, a 45-year-old woman was abducted by four persons in the limits of Wah Cantonment police.
