LAKKI MARWAT: Five people, including children, were injured when a mortar shell fired from an unknown direction fell on a house in Sradarga area of Bannu district on Friday.

A police official said that the mortar shell explosion caused injuries to Shah Jamair, 65, Mohammad Zeb, 6, Kashif, 4, Bushra, 3 and Amir, 6.

He said that the injured were rushed to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger.

Meanwhile, a watchman killed a worker inside a plastic factory in the township area of Bannu district on Friday.

The township police station SHO Asmatullah Khan, who is the complainant in the FIR of the case, said that an official at the police station informed him about the murder incident when he was on routine patrol duty in the area.

He said that he immediately reached the factory and found a body lying in a gutter.

“The deceased was identified as Mohammad Munawar, a resident of Rahim Yar Khan district of Punjab, and his body was transported to the Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital to complete medico-legal formalities,” he maintained.

The SHO said that during initial investigation he came to know that the factory’s watchman, Shaheen, a resident of Khadri Mamandkhel area of Bannu, had killed him with a sharp-edged weapon.

He said motive behind the murder could not be ascertained immediately, and a case was registered against the suspected killer under relevant sections of law.
