RAWALPINDI: Approximately 24 Ramazan bazaars will be set up in six districts of the Rawalpindi division to facilitate the people during the holy month.

According to offcial sources, eight Bazaars will be established in Rawalpindi, six in Attock, three in Jhelum, five in Chakwal and two bazaars will be set up in the Murree district.

The district administration has assured the public that they would be protected from being exploited by profiteers and hoarders.

In this regard, a meeting of price magistrates was held at the Rawalpindi commissioner’s office.

Commissioner Amir Khattak, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Dr Hassan Tariq, Parks and Horticulture Authority Director General Ahmed Hassan Ranjha and the deputy commissioners of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree participated in the meeting through video link.

The commissioner directed the deputy commissioners to complete their preparations for Ramazan.

In all the districts, Ramazan Shaulat Bazaars and sugar selling points will be identified where the items will be available at wholesale rates.

“For the said purpose, selected points should have proper parking space so that it won’t cause any traffic disruption,” the commissioner said.

He directed that the price control committee meeting be convened at the earliest to notify the rates of essential commodities.

“The rate list should be prominently displayed at deputy commissioner office and assistant commissioner offices,” he said.

He further directed to hold meetings with traders and market committee members in order to ensure that there would not be a shortage in the supply of any commodity.
