ISLAMABAD, April 25: Federal Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Ghulam Sarwar Khan said the government was planning to train 300,000 unskilled workers each year.

He was speaking at the inaugural session of National Tripartite Forum on “Employment and Skills”, organised by the Ministry of Labour and Manpower, and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Mr Khan said his ministry would try to ensure a friendly working environment for the labourers.

He told the audience that a cell had been set up to examine and recommend changes to the labour laws so that the working class could benefit from them. The cell will also review workers’ pension and welfare funds as well as the social security system, he added.
