GUJRANWALA: A man who allegedly raped and murdered a five-year-old girl, was killed in an alleged police encounter on Tuesday.

The suspect was accused of kidnapping the five-year old daughter of a tailor, and raping and killing her. He buried her body in the courtyard of a vacant house belonging to relatives.

Under the supervision of DSP Owais Gujar and SHO Mubashir Warraich, the police arrested the suspect and, upon his identification, recovered the body.

On Tuesday, City Police Officer Ayyaz Saleem said that Wahndo police were taking the suspect for crime scene identification when armed motorcycle-riding accomplices opened fire on the police party near Kalo Kalan Bridge. During the exchange of fire, the suspect was allegedly killed by his own accomplices’ bullets.

The police registered a case against the fleeing suspects and launched a search operation to apprehend them.

REARRESTED: A suspect who fled police custody was arrested by Hafizabad Police on Tuesday.

Regional Police officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said fugitive suspect Babar Ali, of Vachhuwan, who was involved in drug dealing, theft, and robbery cases, was being transported back to the police station after obtaining physical remand from the court when he fled near Kaleki Tibba.

The police registered a case against an assistant sub-inspector and two constables for negligence and detained them.

Special teams were formed under the supervision of Saddar SDPO Rana Jameel Qaiser. The police teams conducted intensive raids across multiple districts and arrested him from a suburban area of Pindi Bhattian.
