LAHORE: As many as 22 Indian fishermen, who were released from Malir jail a day before, were handed over to the Indian authorities at Wagah Border here on Saturday.

The released Indian fishermen were brought to Lahore in a special bus from Karachi. The freed individuals are Bhupat, Mala, Krishan, Khalaf, Mohan, Asif, Ashok, Akbar, Lakhman, Moji, Deepak, Ram Ji, Hari, Tapu, Suresh, Vijay, Manoj Kumar, Vinu, Mahesh, Subhash, Sanjay and Selendhar. “Each Indian fisherman was provided with PKR5,000, meals, and gifts by the Edhi Foundation,” a spokesperson for Edhi Foundation said.

The fishermen were released after completing their sentences for unintentionally crossing into Pakistan’s territorial waters.
