LAHORE, April 24: Arifwala tehsil nazim Naveed Tariq has not been allowed to work by the Punjab government since the day of his assuming the office, says his brother and PML MPA Dr Farrukh Javed.

In a statement here on Monday, he said the TMA budget approved on March 6 was cancelled by the provincial administration through the local government department within three days.

Similarly, transfers of TMO and AO, ordered by the tehsil nazim, were cancelled the next day to make things worse for him.

The sitting TMO, he said, ignored nazim’s orders “under instructions” from Lahore. He said due to financial crunch work on all on-going schemes had been suspended while 50 TMA workers had been denied salary for the last two months.

“After failing to stop him from becoming the nazim, the government was now out to dislodge him through unfair means,” Javed said.—IA
