BAJAUR: A five-day anti-polio campaign was kicked off in four tehsils of Bajaur on Monday, where the previous drive was postponed due to security reasons.

Officials of the health department told Dawn that the campaign was launched in Lowi Mamond, War Mamond, Nawagai and Salarzai tehsils.

They said that the previous drive, continuing from Feb 3 to 7, had to be postponed on the directives of the high-up owing to the security issues.

The officials said strict security arrangements had been put in place for the campaign.

Meanwhile, the district police in a statement issued here on Monday said that foolproof security measures had been placed for the safety and security of the polio teams.

The statement said several hundred policemen had been deployed for the security of vaccinators.
