An air squadron consisting of six military aircraft belonging to the US Air Force was spotted flying over the Mediterranean Sea, according to data from Flight Radar, which specialises in tracking and monitoring aircraft movements, Al Jazeera reports.

The squadron includes two strategic bombers of the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress type, along with four Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft designated for refuelling fighters and bombers in mid-air.

The aircraft took off earlier today from the Royal Air Force Mildenhall base in England, which is a US base, Al Jazeera noted.

The flight path of the aircraft shows them flying over the Mediterranean Sea, near southern Europe and North Africa, with a possibility of heading towards the Middle East.
