KARACHI: The constitutional benches, set up at the Sindh High Court, have disposed of 1,765 cases in the last month.

According to the statistics, the constitutional benches at the SHC principal seat Karachi have decided 1,411 cases from Jan 1 to Jan 31 and such benches at SHC Sukkur have also disposed of 90 cases during the same period.

The constitutional benches at the SHC circuit courts Hyderabad, Larkana and Mirpurkhas have settled 128, 60 and 76 cases, respectively, during the last month.

The constitutional benches were established at the SHC by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan in November under the 26th Constitutional Amendment to hear and decide constitutional matters falling under sub-paragraph (i) of paragraph (a) and paragraph (c) of clause (i) of Article 199 of the Constitution.
