SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A doctor associated with Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was kidnapped at gunpoint from a healthcare facility in the Birmal tehsil of Lower South Waziristan district on Thursday.

Sources said that five unidentified gunmen entered Sharif Khan Basic Health Unit in Azam Warsak area and took away Dr Nauman associated with PRCS.

PRCS had organised a free medical camp at the facility earlier in the day.

According to the district administration and police, the five armed men held the health staff at gunpoint, snatched mobile phones and cash from them and took away Dr Nauman on a motorcycle.

Deputy Commissioner Lower South Waziristan Nasir Khan confirmed the incident and said that the police and district administration had initiated search for the kidnapped doctor.
