“Heavy rain in Gaza in the past few hours has caused the roads to flood, impeding movement. Palestinians, particularly those who are just returning to their homes, are already facing challenges on the roads as they arrive in the north,” Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud reports from Gaza City.

“In the Sheikh Radwan district, people came out of their tents as soon as it stopped raining and started clearing out rubble. People are also moving inside heavily damaged homes to try to fix whatever they can,” the reporter said.

“When we asked one of the people, they said the tents they were staying in were very cold and did not protect them from the rain — some of the buildings are still standing despite heavy damage— so it is still better for some people than the tents they set up in the streets or near piles of rubble,” he added.

Mahmoud said that this was once a very busy area with lots of traffic but has now been reduced to a site of destruction after 15 months of bombardment and attacks.
