KARACHI: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Sunday welcomed ‘dozens of workers’ from different parties in its fold, with the leaders of the ruling party claiming that there is no political party better than the PPP in the country when it comes to solving public issues and serving the masses.

Describing the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) as full of contradictions, they said differences within the MQM-P were already there, though they started becoming more apparent.

These remarks were made by PPP Sindh chapter president Nisar Khuhro and Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani during a ceremony held at a local hall where members of the MQM-P organisng committee, Hazara National Movement, Awami National Party (ANP) besides other political groups joined the PPP.

Mr Ghani, who is also PPP Karachi president, criticising the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf said that it would no longer receive any kind of ‘facilities’.

Both leaders also highlighted the growing support for the PPP, with members from other political parties, including the MQM-P and ANP, joining the PPP in a significant number.

Mr Khuhro said the inclusion of those individuals in the PPP was seen as a clear indication that the party was the only one in the city, province and country that truly believed in public service.

He said the PPP had learnt from its founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto who started the party with only 300 people.

“This is what we learnt from him; the PPP is a national party and not a party of any specific province or ethnicity,” Khuhro said. He emphasised that Bhutto’s party was created for everyone, and the PPP’s mission was to expand it.
