LAHORE: The government has begun receiving applications for the second phase of the mass weddings scheme titled Punjab Dhee Rani Programme as the first phase of marriage of 1,500 women has completed.

Applications for Punjab Dhee Rani Programme can not only be submitted through an online portal (www.cmp.punjab.gov.pk) but can also be submitted in the district office of the deputy director social welfare.

A dedicated helpline 1312 has been established for seeking information about the scheme.

In this mass-wedding scheme, food is served to the guests (close relatives of brides and grooms) by the Punjab government, while newly-married couples are also gifted Rs100,000 per couple through ATM cards, besides furniture, clothes and other necessary household items.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that she loved every daughter of Punjab and felt heartfelt joy when a daughter enters wedlock.

She said the government is responsible for the poor and deprived segments of society. “We will fulfill every responsibility well with commitment and devotion.”

Placing a loving hand on the heads of daughters with compassion is a valuable tradition of Punjab, she said, adding the government will not only build them houses but will also make them livable.
