TAXILA: A special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) in Attock on Saturday sentenced a drug peddler to nine-year imprisonment, besides imposing a fine f Rs80,000.

The accused Mohammad Mursaleen was arrested by New Airport Police in 2024 after recovery of hashish from his possession subsequently a case was registered against him under section 9-C of control of narcotics substance act 1997.

The judge after hearing the arguments of defense and prosecution counsel announced the verdict.

During the proceedings, the public prosecutor argued that the accused was caught smuggling the contraband and the evidence on record fully connected him with the commission of the offence.

In case of non-payment, the accused will have to face jail for another six months.
