GUJRAT: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claims to have arrested two human traffickers, including a suspect wanted in a recent Greece boat capsize tragedy, on Wednesday.

The Gujrat circle FIA arrested Ansar Mahmood, a resident of Zafarwal village, Narowal district. The accused in active connivance of an organised group of human traffickers was involved in the heinous crime of migrant smuggling.

He extorted Rs4.5 million from the family of Ahsan Ali of Mahroof, Jalalpur Jattan tehsil of Gujrat, under the pretext of securing an employment visa for him, however, later on the intending emigrant was boarded in a vessel going to Greece that capsized near Gavdos, and many migrants died, including the son of the complainant.

Similarly another human trafficker namely Muhammad Awais, a resident of Gujranwala, was arrested. He extorted Rs5.1m from the complainant on the pretext of sending him to Canada on an employment visa.
