PESHAWAR, April 22: The World Health Organisation has urged healthcare professionals to speed up the anti-polio campaign in refugees camps to eradicate the crippling ailment.
Speaking at the certificate distribution ceremony among representatives of some NGOs for their services at refugees’ camps here on Friday, Dr Abraham, team leader of the WHO’s Polio Eradication Initiative for NWFP and Fata, said that health workers should try their level best to immunise all children below five years of age.
He said it was a challenge for health professionals to achieve the Millennium Development Goals by the year 2015. He said vaccinators had been appointed at the Torkham border to ensure that all children got vaccinated against polio.
