RAWALPINDI: In a bid to improve traffic flow and ensure public safety, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) removed encroachments from Gulshan Abad to Sarmarzar on Adiala Road on Tuesday.

The operation, carried out by the RDA’s enforcement squad, aimed at restoring order, enhance road accessibility, and provide a safer environment for both commuters and pedestrians.

According to a press release, encroachments were removed; illegal structures, vendors, and unauthorized street installations that had been obstructing traffic were demolished in collaboration with police of Saddar Bairooni.

RDA has also lodged FIR against the owner and administration of Grand Pearl Marquee on Adiala Road. People had been facing problems and voiced concerns over the growing encroachments in the area.

It stated that encroachments not only created traffic congestion but also posed significant safety hazards.

The RDA is committed to preserving the integrity of Rawalpindi’s urban spaces.

It said the operation will continue across Rawalpindi to address encroachments. This is part of an ongoing urban planning strategy designed to optimise the city’s infrastructure and enhance the experience for residents and visitors alike.

The RDA urges the general public to cooperate in maintaining encroachment-free zones to ensure that Rawalpindi’s streets remain safe, accessible, and congestion-free.
