KARACHI: Traffic police fined 820 underage motorcyclists in a single day as part of a campaign to highlight the risks of riding motorbikes without a valid licence.

DIG-Traffic Ahmed Nawaz Cheema said on Monday that the traffic police had taken action against the pupils who ride motorbikes while going on their way to schools or returning from there.

He stated that motorcycles were being seized from underage riders, while bikes belonging to individuals without driving licences were also being impounded.

He added that these vehicles were being returned to the riders’ parents after obtaining written assurances from them that their children would not ride the bikes again.
