SAHIWAL: A bridegroom died and his bride, along with three family members, were critically injured when their car hit a tree near village 37/12-L, Sahiwal-Khanewal National Highway on Monday.

The car was part of a wedding procession returning from Dera Lal, Hyderabad, Sindh, to Patoki, district Kasur.

According to reports, the accident happened because the car driver fell asleep while driving.

Muhammad Yousaf, 35-year-old bridegroom, died at the scene.

Rescue 1122 first transported the injured to Chichawatni Tehsil Hospital and then to Sahiwal Teaching Hospital.

Those injured include bride Sonia Bibi, bridegroom’s sister Asmia Bibi, another family member Anwari Bibi and car driver Arif.

Bridegroom’s father Babu Ilyas declined to file any complaint with the police.

RAPE: City police arrested a youth who allegedly raped a transgender and later cut her hair for not meeting his demand in Mohalla Farid Ganjh, Sahiwal city.

City Police station registered a case under sections 376 and 337v(2) of the PPC against the suspect on a complaint by the transgender.

The police raided different places to arrest the main culprit.
