Yossi Beilin, a former Israeli justice minister, says he expects Netanyahu’s upcoming talks with Trump to be difficult.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, Beilin said the two men enjoy a friendly relationship but this time they have different interests.

“Netanyahu doesn’t want to lose his coalition and his coalition may not allow him to continue the process with the release of hostages. And Trump wants very much, and rightly so, to end the war,” Beilin argued.

“So Netanyahu will have to juggle between the two parties. He did it in the past once again and I believe that he is contemplating about continuing this game even now — but it won’t be very easy,” he said.

“There are dates, there is an agreement and the question is whether he intends to implement this agreement of the release of the hostages and the release of prisoners or not.”
