Thailand thrash Lanka

ISLAMABAD, April 21: Thailand defeated Sri Lanka 17-9 on the second day of the Asia Cup Baseball Championship at the Rawalpindi Stadium.

The Lankans made a flying start scoring five runs in the first innings while Thailand could not open their account till the third.

But it was in the fifth innings that the Thais took the lead and maintained it till the end.

The championship is the first ever international baseball event in Pakistan and also features the home team and those from Iran and Hong Kong.

Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan beat Hong Kong 8-6 with Farooq Ahmed, Kamran Mahmood and Arif doing well for the hosts.

In a late match on Friday under lights, Pakistan were playing Iran.

Main scorers:

Thailand: Anakul (4 runs), Chanatip 3 runs (one home run), Nusit 3 runs (one home run).

Sri Lanka: Aklanka 2 runs, Thekshana 2 runs, Yasashvi one home run.
