Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi says he discussed the implementation of the ceasefire deal with Trump, praising “positive dialogue” with the US leader despite recent tensions over Trump’s call to push Palestinians in Gaza into Jordan and Egypt, Al Jazeera reports.

Sisi said in a statement that the pair discussed “complicated issues and crises” in the region and he told Trump the world is counting on his “ability to reach a permanent and historic peace agreement”.

Issues included the importance of continuing to implement the first and second phases of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and consolidating it, he said.
