NAWABSHAH: Bereaved family members, relatives and supporters of the three men, who were killed in a clash between two groups of Junejo clan in Jani Junejo village near Sanghar on Jan 26, called off the protest after four days of sit-in at Mirpurkhas Chowk in Sanghar on Thursday.

In a late night development, negotiations between the protesters and police officials succeeded after which the family agreed to bury their dead and took back the demand for registration of FIR against Pakistan Peoples Party’s MNA, Salahuddin Junejo, accusing him of being involved in the clash.

The protesters were finally mollified after the intervention of PPP Sanghar district president and MPA Ali Hassan Hingorjo, ex-MNA Naveed Dero and Aijaz Hussain Zardari talked to them on the directives of party chairman and convinced them to exclude the name of Salahuddin Junejo from the list of the suspects.

Sanghar police booked 29 suspects on the protesters’ demand on Thursday after which they called off the protest and buried the bodies.

The FIR (No.5/2025) was registered at Chotiyarun police station on a complaint lodged by Fida Hussain Junejo against 29 suspects including Chotiyaron police station SHO Ghulam Mohammad Sehto, Attaullah Junejo, a close relative of MNA Salahuddin; Saifullah Junejo, Ali Hassan Junejo, Imamudin Rajar, Babu Keerio, Obhayo Rajar, Janu Landar and others.

Sanghar SSP Ghulam Nabi Keerio informed reporters that nine of the suspects had been arrested and efforts were under way for the arrest of the remaining suspects.

The clash between the Junejo groups had started over trespassing of cattle into fields and claimed lives of Mashooq Junejo, Ali Bux Junejo and Abdul Rasool Junejo. Nineteen people had suffered injuries in the incident.
