NAROWAL: The police have arrested the principal and teacher of a private school for alleged torture of students students.

The police took action against the suspects after a video showing them brutally beating more than two dozen students with sticks surfaced on social media.

The complaint of the torture incident was lodged by Zaman Bajwa, Assistant Education Officer, Dumala tehsil of Narowal district, saying the principal of Hasan Scholar Public School (boys campus), Dhabliwala village, Umar Shiraz and a teacher Talha tortured the students.

He said the students were beaten in violation of a Punjab government ban on physical punishment in schools.

Acting on the complaint, Narowal Saddar police registered an FIR against the school principal and the teacher under section 328 A of the PPC.

A spokesperson for the district police said that the suspects have been arrested.

KITES, STRING SEIZED: Sialkot police claimed to have seized 3,000 kites and 200 rolls of metal and chemical-laced string in a raid, arresting a suspect.

As per the complainant, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Fayaz Akram, banned kites and string rolls were seized in a raid on a premises on Wazirabad Road from the possession of a suspect, Hasnain Saber, a resident of Sambaryal.

He said the accused was about to transport kites and string rolls in boxes for sale in different areas.

Sambaryal police have registered an FIR against the suspect under the Kite Flying Act.
