Notice served on PML-N MPA

ISLAMABAD, April 20: Secretary-General of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has issued a show- cause notice to the party’s parliamentary leader in the NWFP Assembly, Anwar Kamal Marwat, for allegedly violating party discipline, a source told Dawn on Thursday.

The source said Mr Jhagra had issued the notice on the directives of the party chief and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the reports that Mr Marwat did not cast his vote to the party candidate in the Senate elections, held in March, this year.

Moreover, the source said, the party leadership was not happy with the overall performance of Mr Marwat in the Senate elections. Mr Marwat is also the secretary-general of the party’s NWFP chapter.

It may be mentioned that the Jamiat-i-Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) had already suspended its four NWFP MPAs for violating the party discipline and casting vote to the government-backed candidates allegedly after getting money.
