KARACHI: Mohammad Yahya beat Muzammil Bhand in straight sets to qualify for the junior U-18 singles semi-final of the Ghazi & Magsi Junior and Seniors National Tennis Championship here at Modern club on Thursday.

In what turned out to be a one-sided quarter-final, Yahya outsmarted Muzammil 6-4, 7-5.

In the girls U-12 singles final, which also proved a lop-sided affair, Eman Malik blanked Shanaya Sheikh 4-0, 4-0.

Matches of different stages in other categories were also held.

Junior U-18 singles (quarter-final): Mohammad Yahya Islamabad bt Muzammil Bhand 6-4, 7-5

U-14 singles (quarter-finals): Mohammad Junaid bt Rohan Das 5-3, 4-2; Ali Bachani bt Muaz 4-2, 5-4; Zayed Zaman bt Yahya Haleem 4-0, 4-2; Ansarullah bt Hussain Gill 4-2, 5-3

U-10 singles (semi-final): Ashar Bhaila bt Azan 1-4, 4-1, 4-1

Men’s singles (quarter-final): Ruhab Faisal bt Ibrahim Iltifat 8-5

Men’s singles (semi-final): Asad Zaman Lahore bt Kashan Tariq 8-3

Girls U-12 singles (final): Eman Malik bt Shanaya Sheikh 4-0, 4-0

Men’s doubles (semi-final): Hashish Kumar/Murad bt Kashan Tariq/Asad Zaman 8-3

U-12 (semi-final): Mohammad Muaz bt Tariq Rafi 5-3, 4-2

U-18 doubles (semi-finals): Asad/Yahya bt Nabeel/Muzammil 6-1, 6-2; Mohammad Salar/Amir Mazari bt Ruhab/Ismail 6-2, 7-6.
