TOBA TEK SINGH: Three youths were booked on Wednesday for allegedly kidnapping and gang-raping a first-year student in Jhang on Tuesday night.

She fell unconscious and was admitted to Jhang DHQ Hospital in a critical condition.

The complainant claimed in her FIR, registered under Section 375-A of the PPC by Satellite Town police, that her daughter, 17, was kidnapped by a named suspect and one unidentified accomplice.

They took her to a house located on Faisalabad Road, where both and a third unidentified accomplice gang-raped her.

When her condition deteriorated, she was rushed to DHQ Hospital, where lady doctors confirmed that she had been gang-raped.

BRIBES: Four police officials were suspended for accepting bribes in Faisalabad by the Madina Town Division Superintendent of Police on Wednesday.

An official stated that Sargodha Road police ASI Farhan Sindhu and three constables, Muhammad Tariq, Abdul Mateen, and Hassan Ali, had detained some people for gambling but later released them after receiving bribes.

KILLED: A factory worker was killed by robbers during resistance in Faisalabad on Tuesday night.

Reports stated that Naveed Masih was intercepted by three outlaws near Sem Nullah outside Bawa Chak in the Millat Town police area. When he resisted, they opened fire, critically wounding him. He was being shifted to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries on the way.

Meanwhile, in the Islampura locality of Jaranwala, Muhammad Naeem attacked and killed Shahzad after a minor quarrel with a sharp chopper.

ENCOUNTER: Two robbers were allegedly shot and injured in an encounter with Mamukanjan police in Faisalabad on Wednesday. Police claimed that both Allah Ditta and Muhammad Saleem, arrested for robberies, were being brought back after recovering booty based on their indication.

When the police van arrived near Chak 494 GB, four accomplices of the suspects attacked the van and snatched them from police custody. After an exchange of fire between the outlaws and police, the attackers fled, leaving both suspects critically wounded.

They were shifted to Samundri THQ Hospital.

Police claimed that both were injured by bullets fired by the attackers.

WORKSHOP: The Department of Economics, Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), hosted a two-day hands-on training workshop of the Partnership in Equality (PIE) for UK-Pakistan Women in Robotics and AI.

Addressing the participants of the workshop, Vice-Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam said that providing equal opportunities in technology is key to empowering underrepresented communities. By investing in their skills, we pave the way for a brighter and more inclusive future.

He added that empowering women in robotics and AI is not just about equality; it’s about unlocking potential and fostering innovation for a better future.

Dr Farkhanda Afzal, PIE team leader and Dr Sofia Anwar, chairperson of the Department of Economics at GCUF, served as resource persons for the workshop. A memorandum of understanding was signed between GCUF and the Centre for Law & Justice.

ACCIDENT: A Faisalabad Waste Management Company dumper crushed a motorcycle rider to death near Mamukanjan Chak 556-GB on Wednesday.

Reports stated that Noor Muhammad, 50, was hit by the dumper, resulting in serious injuries, and he died instantly.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a general store at Kamalia in Iqbal Bazar after blasts occurred in fireworks stored in the shop on Wednesday evening. As a result, valuables worth millions of rupees were reduced to ashes.

Rescue 1122 firefighters extinguished the fire and saved adjacent shops from the fire spreading further.
